WHAT ARE STANDARD WIRELINE TOOLS?

2nd June 2021

Found in every Wireline toolbox worldwide, tools often categorised as Standard, Utility, Low End or BHA type tools are the most commonly used and are often understated in their importance. At the beginning of every well-planned slickline operation a Gauge Cutter, Drift, Impression Device or Blind Box can be found at the bottom of a Wireline toolstring. Predominantly deployed to check the internal diameter of the well is clear for subsequent runs or to investigate and diagnose the well status, these tools perform both a fundamental and critical stage of a well servicing operation.

Our customers are looking for the strongest wireline tools

It is extremely important to ensure that the tools deployed to carry out the preparatory well gauging or diagnostic runs are of a quality design and manufactured from robust materials. LiMAR Gauge Cutters incorporate a substantial outer diameter in both length and thickness for robustness and are sufficiently QPQ hardened to ensure that it can swiftly clear any hard deposits or bridges that may have built up in the well over time. Similarly, the LiMAR Blind Box, Fluted Centraliser, Tubing Swage, Gauge Ring Sample Sub are all suitably surface treated and machined to a very tight tolerance making them well placed to face any downhole challenges in today problematic wells.

LiMAR recognisable quality

Found on all of these tools are the signature hex flats and instantly recognisable red aluminium thread protectors are testament to the importance LiMAR place in tool quality and longevity.
