LiMAR® FLO-ACTIVATED ANCHOR

3rd July 2015

We are delighted to announce that it has recently passed a rigorous set of acceptance tests and is now commercially available. The design brief for the tool was centered around a robust design without the use of hinged legs and pivot pins, which are inherently weak and prone to damage. The LiMAR design utilises a dual wedge feature to force out the anchors at 90 degrees from the tool body from both ends. This permits the anchor keys to be supported by the tool body around the entire perimeter, both in transition and in the fully extended position. This provides a tolerance to torque and tensile loading, far in excess of most commonly used tools.

The Flo-Activated Anchor features a shear release function which can be activated in several ways:

  • Applied tensile load
  • Applied pressure from increased flow rate
  • Ball drop option

In order to facilitate the use of the tool within tubing sizes at the lower end of the range or in tubulars of questionable condition, the Anchor is supplied with an adjustment tool, allowing the user to limit the travel of the keys and prevent unwanted load being applied to the tubing. Standard tools are currently offered in 2-1/8” and 2-7/8”, although the design includes the facility to install slip-on centraliser sleeves and larger keys to cover a wide range of tubing sizes.
